I am dedicated to hand-crafting furniture that is a pleasure to design and create. As a result, I feel others will enjoy making it a part of their lives. My inspiration has always been drawn from handcrafted objects, from the precision and intricacy of Swiss watches to the sculptural substance of Sam Maloof rocking chairs, that display fine qualities of design and craftsmanship. While manufactured items can be finely made they are predictably all the same. With hand-made objects there is an aesthetic richness and subtlety of workmanship that is apparent as one looks for, and discovers, the little details and charming diversity that were left by hand of the artist.
In creating furniture, I work from the perspectives of function, aesthetics and design. Long established methods of joinery as well as novel approaches are applied in moving from design to finished piece. Working with wood as a medium presents its own challenges as each piece is unique and develops subtleties and character, contributing a voice of it’s own. The end result is unique furniture with structural and aesthetic integrity.
Meeting and working with people to create something novel that fits their needs and wants is a pleasure and challenge. It is privilege to jointly create a piece of furniture that is a pleasure to own and enriches someone’s living environment.
